Getting Things Going Again
Posted in Racing by Brian SchaningFollowing the holiday season of drinking too much eggnog and eating to much food it is time to again start training for the upcoming season. Over the holidays our family took a vacation to the Dominican Republic. 90 degrees and sunny every day; you couldn’t ask for much more, especially coming from Wisconsin.
After laying on the beach, eating like a king, and drinking margaritas for a week straight it was a little tough to get back into the routine of training, although it did feel good to start looking towards the upcoming season. Making the return easier was the mild weather we have been having in Wisconsin, no ice or snow to speak of. Up until yesterday I have been running in shorts, which is unheard of.
Today though, the temperatures have taken a dive, this weekend it is supposed to go to below zero, which will mean I am forced indoors for my training. I still don’t know what my race schedule will be for the coming season, but hopefully I will know soon. This summer I will be moving to Arizona for 3 months for one of my clinical rotations. I guess I will be getting some good heat training in!
But it will be fun to try some new races outside of Wisconsin. As of right now, my main goal for the spring is to work on my running and building up my mileage. I am currently meeting my goals, but this new cold weather might hamper the mileage a little bit. I will try to post some pictures from the vacation and training.
(I got a new digital camera for Christmas so I have been playing photographer lately), but my computer is currently dieing a slow death, so I am having trouble uploading photos. (Here is an old one of my first triathlon victory in 2004). Does anyone know which race this is???????

HMMMMM, judging by the name on the finishing banner I am going to have to go with The Waupaca Area Triathlon. :) ! Hope your training is going well in the Ice Box of Wisconsin!
