While I did not see what happened, the description Bruce gives indicates he did everything properly. Many inexperienced cyclists do not know/understand that when two riders get tangled up, the best thing to do is to lean into each other. This gives both riders the chance to regain balance without dangerously swerving into other riders. Most inexperienced riders will do the opposite. The fact that the bandit swerved into Bruce as he was being overtaken clearly indicates his inexperience. The bandit, and the rest of the group, were committing the infraction of "blocking". Bruce, to his credit, followed the rules and still passed on the left. To someone who thinks 18 or 19 mph is fast on a bike, a pro going 26mph is always labled as "unsafe" pippins, I have to disagree with you. I was the rider who saw you cause the accident with the "Bandit". You were riding unsafely and almost hit me before you actualy hit him. I feel that if a race official had been there you would have received multiple penalties or a DQ for your unsafe riding by not passing safely. You can not cut into a rider that you pass and hit them. You must give them space. Your comment to me was that "this is racing and when you are at this level these things happen". I stand by any comments I made to you during the race. My comment to you now is that these events are about racing safely and not winning at any cost to other people on the course.
