Eating Tortillas Really, Really Fast!
Posted in Racing by Tim Hola
I’m not sure if many of you know, but my wife Nikki is an avid tennis player. She’s played her whole life and now works with the Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation. Last week she organized a fundraiser at a local Mexican place called Costa Vida and what better way to spice it up and pull in donations than to have a tortilla eating contest! The event went very well and she had a great turnout. After a long workout that morning, I participated in the contest along with a ultrarunner friend of mine, Scott Jaime, as well as some other kids. The parameters were to eat as many 12 inch tortillas as you could in 5 minutes. To make a long story short, Scott and I just about tied, but he was declared the winner after I could not finish the rest of my tortilla. Susan Williams (2004 Olympic Triathlon bronze medalist) was Scott’s tortilla counter while her daughter, Sydney, participated in the contest. It was great to have her family come! It was a fun time, but I’m not sure “speed eating” is my thing. Have a good holiday season!
