Andrew,

I have often thought about the exact same blog post and how to word it, or even start it. The winner is not always the person with the blue ribbon. Because you can "win" the race, but "lose" your race. And ultimately, that is the race we face in the mirror every day. Then there are the days that you have your best race ever, and you get 15th. Yet you are combated with the question, "what happened?"

Looking forward to the post,
Roger

Thanks Mike.

Roger: Thanks, and great comment. In fact, I'm thinking of making a separate blog post on this topic... the definition of a success in a race and how it could (and should) mean different things to different people.

Andrew,

You were there racing. You made the assessments, like the good science guy you are, and will make the changes. Cool report, and though you are not happy with the times, there were ~1300 people that would have traded you spots...but I know, you are not those people.

Nice work,
Roger

Hodges,

I know you aren't satisfied with how things went, but congrats none the less on a solid effort. 3:53 is pretty stellar in my books.
