Global Trainer Demo #3 – Runner’s Roost – Denver, CO

Posted in Fun by

On Wednesday evening, I was joined by Team mates Erin,Trista, Brian, Will, Wendy and Christine for another Timex Global Trainer Demo. This week’s demo was at the Runner’s Roost in Denver.

Despite getting stuck in some I 25 rush hour traffic that made us just a little late. ( lucky for us Erin can drive a car like she rides a dirt bike:-) We hit the ground running with folks looking to Demo the Global trainer.

Just like the other Clinics we have been doing with the Demo fleet the opportunity to interact directly with the consumer has been really beneficial. Each person has different questions and learning curves with technology.   By having the two laptops on hand has made it easier for them to understand how easy it is to get all that info at the end of a work out.

We have a few more stops to make at Runner Roost in the Colorado, So Keep an Eye out for dates and locations in the  Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins area on our facebook page    http://www.facebook.com/TimexSports or follow the Team on Twitter.

Happy Training,

Denny

Go Shupe!

Posted in Fun by

This past weekend I raced Kansas 70.3 for the 2nd year in a row.  This time around I was going to Kansas with a little different goal in mind then last year.  Last year I went to this race to help get myself race ready for Ironman Roth in Germany. This Years I went not only to race, but to support my best friend Shupe!

For this was Shupes first Half Ironman race ever. Now Shupe has done a few sprints races years ago. In fact she is the one that got me into the sport of Triathlon. I recall it like it was yesterday. Now she was laying down the smack talk pretty thick, saying that I bet you that you can’t do this local sprint race and that she would beat me so bad.   Now this was 1994 a few years after I just had moved to Colorado. And I still had this cocky NJ shore guy attitude in me. So I took the bet.  Well I must say that I nearly lost the bet that day to her. Shupe has been the biggest supporter over the years with my ups’ and down’s in the sport. So for me to be their and watch her and give her the same support this past weekend as she has done for me was such a treat. She has once again showed me why I have made theis sport such a big part of my life for so many years, and that it’s about having fun with friends, family and loved ones. And she has also showed me that a little smack talk can go a long way in a friendship!

(Jen Fields aka Shupe, and Kick my butt training partner Chrissie)

So Thanks Shupe for such a fun weekend.  And I hope you are able to walk down the step’s on you’re own by now.

can’t wait to see you back at it soon!

“TriBella”

Posted in Fun by

This past weekend a few of the Team Timex members had  the opportunity to be a part of the grand opening of Tribella http://tribellas.com/ in down town Denver.  Tribella is a multisport store that is fully dedicated to the sport of Triathlon for women.

That evening Will, Trista and myself attended the opening to talk folks about some of the product’s that we represent with Team Timex.  Here is Trista helping Matthew from Orbea talk about some of the road and Tri Bikes that they make.

Will also jumped right in to talk with some folks that are new to the sport about hydration products from Nathan

I would have to say that this was one of the best turn outs I have seen for a store opening/ Chat with the pro’s in a long time.  By the end of the night they had a turn out of over125 people.  By the look of these two ladies’ I would have to say that Tribella is going to be a successful store for years to come.

Thank you to the staff of Tribella and the folks who came by that night.

Team Timex,

Trista,Will and Denny

Ski Trip To France

Posted in Fun, Racing by

Recently I was lucky to take part in a ski trip to La Grave France with the Company I work for. I have been working for Christy Sports now for the past 18 years. And I must say I have truly love working at my job everyday. I have always joked with my fellow co-works when we are on the chair lift.  That this is best office desk in the world. And as you can see from some of the photos from our trip this is why we say that.

This was just a small part of the Moutain that we skied all week, This was also the view from my room in town

We spent the days skiing from one hut to the next to spend the night on the Mountain.

So If you look just look below the V at the top of the cliff’s and  a little to the Left you will see one of the hut’s we stayed at.  They told us if you happen to sleep walk at night you may not wake up come morning to ski out.

Well I hope they I get to call this my office desk for the next 20 more years.

Thanks Christy Sports for such a Fun Trip!

Aging up

Posted in Fun by

When I moved to Boulder, Colorado back in 1991, I had no idea that I would still be calling this place home 20 years later. In the past two decades, I have made some of the best friends a person could ever ask for. I have been pushed; pulled and picked up by these friends in every victory and defeat in my life.

Turning 40 this past weekend has caused me to reflect on how I got here. Starting with my friend Jen, for getting me started into the sport of triathlon in 1995. Monica for helping me to start, finish and win, my first ironman in 2001. Michael for helping me raise over $25,000 for the Alzheimer association. Danny, from Newton Running, for always keeping shoes on my feet. Jeff for the pick me up at mile 20 in Kona in 2007, I needed the pep talk of “don’t let the guys in Speedos and compression socks beat you!”

And lastly, Miss Tingle, for putting in a good word to Tristan for me, I have loved being a part of the Timex family.

These are just a few of the many folks that have pushed me to some of the highest highs in my life. Now that I have aged up to the 40-44, I say farewell to some of the fiercest competitors I have ever toed the line with (especially you, Tim Hola and Chris Thomas). Maybe Tim will stop racing when he turns forty. Maybe?!

And I say hello to some of the fast forty year olds: Bruce, Gordo and Curt, please have some mercy.

Thanks,

 Denny
