Jess v Snake 1

Posted in Racing by Jess Petersson

Hey There!

I managed to escape the rain of a wintery UK and arrived in Phoenix in March 2006.

I had not written a bike out doors (ok twice in 6 months) all winter so was a bit worried for IM AZ.

Anyway, the one thing I was a bit worried about were the snakes. The first week I was here I was worried I would find snakes and /or scorpions in the house and I’d check my shoes for critters. Calmed down a tad now.

My first snake (live one) encounter whent by pretty quick a snake was moving across the road in front of me (I was on bike) and I had a ton of traffic to my left I kinda flinched and then it kinda flinched and then I was passed it. Kept checkking my rear wheel just in case. Unfortunately I wanted to know what kinda snake it was so I typed in Arizona and snakes, boy did I wish I hadn’t how many of the scary creatures do they have. So, far everyones words of “oh they’re more scared of u” or “they hear you and stay away” have al been LIES.

Am still very scared of them saw a trailer for “snakes on the plane” crikey no way am I watching that.

  • Put some towards my wedding/honeymoon. I want to do the Himalayan 100mile stage race on honeymoon and travel.
  • Put some into a Sports Aid Foundation like MSAF
  • If any left after sorting out my family/friends
  • Maybe a deposit on a piece of land where I can live and build a cabin
  • Rest would go into keeping me training/racing-maybe in a RV
